Mekhi Phifer grandit seul avec sa mère, professeur au lycée. Il commence sa carrière en 1995 en obtenant le rôle principal du film de Spike Lee, Clockers, lui permettant de côtoyer des pointures comme Harvey Keitel ou John Turturro. Fort de cette prestation remarquée, le jeune comédien poursuit sa carrière : on le voit notamment en étudiant un peu trop porte sur le sexe et pourchasse par un redoutable tueur dans Souviens-toi... l’été dernier 2, ou encore en prodige du basket amoureux de Julia Stiles mais jalouse par Josh Hartnett dans Othello. |
