BIOGRAFÍA:

Jurnee Smollett comenzó su carrera a una edad temprana, incluyendo un papel recurrente en The Cosby (1998-1999), que le valió dos premios NAACP Image a la mejor actriz. Recibió elogios de la crítica por su actuación en la película de drama independiente Eve's Bayou (1997) junto a Meagan Good y Samuel L Jackson. En la década de 2000, consiguió numerosos papeles secundarios en películas como Blonde on the Run (2000) y Rollerblade Fever (2005), Redemption (2006) y la película biográfica de y protagonizada por Denzel Washington, The Great Debaters (2007), por la que ganó su tercer Image Award.
