Nacido el: 18 Mar 1970 , New Jersey  -
Queen Latifah, cuyo verdadero nombre es Dana Elaine Owens, fue criada en una familia de policías por su padre y su hermano mayor. Su nombre artístico, Queen Latifah, se lo pusieron cuando tenía 8 años. Comenzó su carrera en los años 80 con el grupo "Ladies Fresh". En 1987 grabó una maqueta que presentó a las productoras, y en 1988 firmó con 'Tommy Boy' bajo el nombre de Queen Latifah. En aquella época, sólo Mc Lyte y Queen Latifah eran respetados en el mundo machista del hip hop estadounidense. Debutó en la pantalla en 1991 con un pequeño papel en "Jungle Fever", de Spike Lee.
