BIOGRAFÍA:

La mayor de cinco hijos, Sanaa Lathan, nació en Nueva York de padre director y productor y madre bailarina de profesión. Inicialmente interesada en la profesión legal, se matriculó en la Universidad de California en Berkeley mientras continuaba tocando en el Black Theatre Worshop. Obtuvo su bachillerato en inglés y abandonó la facultad de derecho para obtener una maestría en bellas artes en la Escuela de Arte Dramático de Yale. Luego regresó a Nueva York para perfeccionar sus habilidades, donde actuó en producciones teatrales locales y off-Broadway. Acumuló una amplia experiencia hasta 1996, cuando se trasladó a Los Ángeles y realizó una serie de series de televisión: "New York Police Blues", "Family matters", "In the house", "Moesha" y, en 1997, el cortometraje de su hermano Tendaji "The smoker".
