BIOGRAFÍA:
Durante su juventud, Sonequa recibió su diploma de teatro de la Universidad de Alabama en 2007.
Sonequa obtuvo muchos papeles recurrentes en series de televisión populares: The Good Wife, NYC 22 y Once Upon a Time. Se une al elenco de The Walking Dead para interpretar el papel de Sasha, la hermana de Tyreese (Chad Coleman) en la tercera temporada. Su contrato fue renovado para las siguientes temporadas.
A principios de 2017, la actriz firmó para interpretar al protagonista de la nueva serie de Star Trek: Discovery, que interpretó a Lieutenant Commander a bordo de la nave Discovery.
