BIOGRAPHIE:
Jurnee Smollett commence sa carrière, dès son plus jeune âge, notamment dans un rôle récurrent du Cosby (1998-1999), qui lui permet de remporter deux NAACP Image Awards de la meilleure actrice. Elle reçoit les éloges de la critique grâce à son interprétation dans le film dramatique indépendant Eve's Bayou (1997) au côté de Meagan Good et Samuel L Jackson.
Dans les années 2000, elle décroche de nombreux seconds rôles au cinéma tel qu' Une blonde en cavale (2000) et La Fièvre du roller (2005), Rédemption (2006) et le film biographique de et avec Denzel Washington, The Great Debaters (2007), qui lui vaut son troisième Image Award.
